Longs Corner Service Station in Howden, East Yorkshire, are celebrating after winning two awards at the prestigious Forecourt Trader Awards.

Longs Corner was shortlisted in the categories of Best Forecourt Facilities and Best Chilled Display and on the night they beat stiff competition to take both prizes.

Family business Jos Richardson & Son Ltd bought Longs Corner Garage in November 2011. In December 2011 they started work on the re-development of the site which involved knocking down the old garage, forecourt and shop. In its place is a 2500 sq foot SPAR convenience store and 8 pump forecourt. The new service station opened in March 2012.

Joseph Richardson, Director of Jos Richardson & Son, said “we are absolutely thrilled that Longs has been recognised by the industry as providing best in class facilities. The team have worked so hard since the opening of the redeveloped site in March this year and this recognises all their efforts”

Forecourt Trader is the leading journal in the petrol retailing sector and their annual awards recognise the best in the business. The Award Ceremony was held at the Park Lane Hilton in London, on 20 September and was hosted by comedian and actor Hugh Dennis.

Joseph continued “we were up against some very good sites so the competition was intense. The judges visited all the shortlisted sites to assess them and they felt that Longs Corner demonstrated the highest standards in catering for the local community, maintaining a clean and safe site and providing good displays of a wide range of products.
