Grand Opening at Middleton Service Station, Pickering to Celebrate Recent Re-Development

Friday 13th might be unlucky for some but Middleton Service Station customers had some good luck when the brand-new service station held an Official Grand opening to celebrate the re-opening of its new Shell forecourt and SPAR Convenience Store.

The service station gave away £500 worth of fuel to customers who chose a winning ticket from the lucky dip with one customer winning £85 of fuel in one go.

Minster FM and the Minster Monster were on site giving away goody bags and running competitions to win Cook Frozen ready meals and a kids sweet hamper.  There were free Costa Coffees all day and York Town Crier Ben Fry made a proclamation to officially announce the opening.  The site also held a raffle to win 2 SPAR hampers and raised over £110 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Entertainment was provided by local jazz act The Gaslight Trio and the Magician in Black wowed customers with his close-up magic.

Jane Richardson, Director at Jos Richardson and Son Ltd said “The official launch day was a great success and we were delighted with the support we had from local customers on the day. The feedback we have had from people about the new site has been very positive. The event was our way of saying thank you to locals who have shopped with us over the years and to welcome new customers to Middleton Service Station”

The filling station and convenience store, based in the village of Middleton, was closed for re-development from April to July 2019. Works to the forecourt and shop took around 12 weeks and the site is vastly improved.

The store has changed to SPAR and has had a completely new shop fit making it light, bright and modern.  The store will offer an enhanced range of groceries, confectionary and fresh produce as well as a large off licence, hot food to go kitchen and Costa coffee machine.  A new addition to the retail offering will be Cook, a premium frozen food brand with a delicious range of high-end ready meals.  Complimenting this will be a range of premium wines and local ales.

The fuel offering will now come from Shell, meaning that customers can benefit from their premium range of fuels and lubricants, the innovative Shell Go loyalty programme and the Fill Up and Go Shell App which allows customers to pay from their car.  Improvements to the forecourt include a new canopy, new tanks and pumps, two Washtec jet wash machines and air, water and screenwash refilling stations. The site has also undergone an extensive clean up operation to ensure that it complies with environmental regulations and will do so for many years to come.
