Our History

We began trading.

Henry & Harold joined the company.

David & his younger brother Michael became the 3rd generation to work for the company.

Won the account to supply the local area with coal.

Operating retail coal depots across Goole, Market Weighton, Rawcliffe and South Cave.

Tim 4th generation joined the family business which also included a credit loan business and travel agency.

Glews Garage was acquired.

Coal Wholesale arm of the business was sold to the British Fuel Company.

Last bag of coal was delivered.

Glews Garage expanded with a Vauxhall franchise, service workshop, an accident repair centre, 24 hour recovery service and a Texaco petrol forecourt.

Richwood Garage was built and a new car dealership franchise with Peugeot was introduced.

New 24 hour Shell Petrol Service Stations opened.

Joseph became the 5th generation to join the company.

Primrose Valley Service Station was acquired and redeveloped in 2007 and again in 2014.

Filey Service Station was acquired December 2006 and redeveloped in 2009 and 2015.

York Road Garage was acquired.

Longs Corner Service Station was acquired and immediately redeveloped into a BP (now Shell) Service Station and SPAR Convenience Store.

Joseph Richardson became the Managing Director, with Tim Richardson stepping up to Chairman.

Glews Garage expanded with an Isuzu franchise.

York Road Garage was redeveloped with the addition of the first Subway Franchise.

Truckstop at Glews Services was developed with parking for up to 80 HGV’s overnight, 7 fuel lanes selling Diesel, HVO & Adblue.

2nd & 3rd Subway franchise opens at Glews Services and Longs Corner Service Station.

Celebrated 125 years in business.

Middleton Service Station opened.

Middleton Service Station was transformed.

Leeds Skelton Lake Services opens.

Acquires Gilberdyke Convenience Store and converts to SPAR franchise.

Acquires and redevelops Waterside Service Station.
